How to make a designer flowerpot out of recycled materials? (With humor, because plants like to laugh)
Share
Step 1: Gather a team for action – the things you need

Before you get started, take a look under your desk, in the kitchen, or... in the plastic bin (we're not judging!). What do you need?
- A plastic bottle (preferably a water bottle, as orange soda can be sticky)
- Scissors (sharp, but not too sharp)
- Marker (for artistic madness)
- Colorful stickers, tapes, glitter – whatever you can find!
- Plant potting soil (not to be confused with chocolate flower potting soil)
- A small plant (cactus, succulent, basil – let it move into its new home)
- Spoon or shovel (for gardening)
Step 2: Operation Bottle – Time to cut!
- Remove the label and wash the bottle (plants don't like cola behind the ear).
- Mark the cutting line with a marker – approximately 1/3 of the way up from the bottom.
(No need to use a ruler. Curves are in!) - Grab your scissors! Carefully cut the bottle along the line.
(If you have little helpers at home, let them watch and cheer you on.)
Step 3: Time for some design madness!
- Grab a marker and let your imagination run wild. Draw a funny face, leaves, or a plant superhero.
- Stickers, tape, glitter? Sure! The more colorful, the better. This isn't IKEA, there's no boredom here!
- Your flowerpot should be so original that even a cactus will smile.
Step 4: Earth, or the ground is the foundation
- Pour some soil into the bottom (not too much, as the plant likes to have room for its roots).
- Place the plant in the pot and cover it with soil, pressing it down lightly (but not too much, let it breathe).
- Use a spoon, and if you don't have one, your fingers will do the trick too!
- Water gently – plants do not like flooding.
Step 5: Desktop presentation – make everyone jealous!
Done! Place your new planter on your desk, next to your laptop and coffee mug.
You can give it a name and say "good morning" every day - it supposedly grows faster then (Greenably's own research).
