Kolej – The Green Champion of Eco-Transport! 🚄🌿

Imagine every train journey being like watering the planet – the more people choose the train, the greener our Earth becomes! But is this just an ecological slogan? We'll find out!
1. Railway – the most ecological means of transport
According to the latest data (PKP Intercity, UTK, ProKolej), rail is the leader among eco-friendly means of public transport. Why?
- CO2 emissions per passenger per 1 km are more than 3 times lower than in road transport and as much as 8 times lower than in air transport!
- In Europe, transport generates 25% of total CO2 emissions, of which as much as 72% comes from roads and only 0.4% from railways!
- Modern trains (such as ICE4, DB) are increasingly powered by renewable energy – in Switzerland, nearly 90% of railway energy already comes from renewable energy sources, and SBB plans to achieve 100% by 2025!
2. Statistics straight from the tracks
- In the first half of 2025, almost 211.3 million passengers traveled by rail in Poland – a record for the 21st century and an increase of 5.4% year on year!
- Rail freight transport in March 2025 will amount to over 17.9 million tonnes – it's as if all the ferns in Europe went on holiday!
- Poland is investing PLN 180 billion in modernizing its railway network by 2032 to make trains even greener, quieter and faster.
3. Railway = less noise, less smog, more greenery
- Trains generate much less noise than cars or planes.
- Modern routes and rolling stock are designed with animal protection and biodiversity in mind (e.g. animal crossings, noise barriers).
- Each train means fewer cars on the roads and fewer traffic jams – more space for urban gardens, parks and balcony jungles!
4. The railway is trendy and… green by nature!
- By taking the train, you reduce your carbon footprint. It's like planting a small tree every time you travel—only faster and without getting your hands dirty!
- Deutsche Bahn's ICE4? It's not just fast transport, but also a mobile garden – after all, every other passenger brings home a new plant! (Okay, almost 😉)
5. Green joke at the end
Do you know why ferns love trains? Because they can travel stress-free, in clean air, and always have a view of a green future! 🌱🚄
Summary:
Rail travel isn't just convenient and fast, but above all, it's a viable choice for those who care about the environment. Every train journey is a step towards a cleaner, greener planet. Next time you're planning a trip, choose rail! Your plants and the planet will thank you.
